A Tribute to Peter A. Lewis: Farmer, Developer, and Owner
Peter was born in Atkinson, N.H. on March 1, 1940 and lived there his entire life up to his passing on May 28, 2008. Peter left this earth quietly and unassuming. It is very hard to properly describe such a unique and gifted man. He was the president and driving force behind Lewis Builders Development Co., one of NH’s leading home building companies which has provided over 2,000 homes in various communities within the surrounding area. History of East Coast Lumber
East Coast Lumber & Building Supply Company, Inc. was started in East Hampstead, New Hampshire in 1976. Peter Lewis, of The Lewis Group of Companies, created the business to service the local communities with all their building needs. East Coast Lumber's product lines now include lumber, hardware, kitchens and baths, millwork, rentals, other seasonal products and much more, making construction, home improvement, or whatever your next project is, easier than ever. We are a fair competitor in the market place and continue our dedication to outstanding customer service.
In 1995, ownership was passed down through the family to Christine Lewis Morse, the sole proprietor. Christine has spent many years learning all aspects of the business. In December 2000, Christine Lewis Morse opened ECL Rentals, a tool and equipment repair shop with a small service and repair department. Over the last few years the store has grown to a full service sales, rental and repair shop fulfiiling the need within the local communities.
East Coast Lumber strives to focus on outstanding customer service, while providing a casual but professional environment for its customers and employees. The Lewis Group of Companies
The Lewis Group of Companies is derived from a family business started in 1958 by Ralph and Lillian Lewis, along with their son and current president of Lewis Builders, Inc., Peter Lewis. Since that time, the Lewis family has been literally "Building neighborhoods since 1958". Lewis Builders, Inc. has diversified over the years with several affiliated companies.
In the 1990's, one of their most ambitious undertakings in land development originated with the constuction of the beautiful Atkinson Resort and Country Club. Currently, the land surrounding the resort is being designed for residential and commercial development that will keep with the Lewis standard of excellence.
